About the production team

Kat Henry, Director

Kat Henry is a director and performer working across the mediums of theatre, music video, film projects and live events. She is a 2009 graduate of NIDA (Directing), has an Advanced Diploma of Acting (ACTT), a B.A. (U.Q., double major in Religion), and has studied Shakespeare at LAMDA (London Academy of Dramatic Art). 

 

At QTC she has been Assistant Directing for Michael Gow on The Little Dog Laughed and The Importance of Being Earnest and for Jon Halpin on The Estimator.

 

Kat's multi-media, multi-discipline production of Heiner Muller's Medea Material was perfomed at NIDA in 2009, the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March and will play at La Boite in November 2010. She has directed Sondheim’s Assassins at QPAC (Warehaus Theatre Company), Euripedes' Medea (Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and BGGS), Queensland Theatre Company's George Landan Dann award winning play The Rainbow Dark (Backbone Youth Arts) The Laramie Project (The Cement Box Theatre and Metro Arts) One Thumb Out and Fast Cars Designer Jeans (Judith Wright Centre), The 5th at Randwick (Melbourne Fringe Festival) and Features of Blown Youth (Vena Cava).

 

With Stella Electrika, she has directed the short film Eartha Kitt Goes to the Berlin and the music video Safe in Silence, (co-produced with NIDA, JTV, RAGE and Triple Unearthed) for Sydney band Former Child Stars which premiered on RAGE and is now on rotation on American MTV.

Steven McKay, Musical Director

Steven Mckay was born in Brisbane and began studying the trumpet at the age of 9, followed closely by the piano. While in high school, he developed an interest in composition, which led him to audition at the Queensland Conservatorium. He studied at the Conservatorium for six years under reknowned composers Stephen Leek and Gerard Brophy gaining both a Bachelor of Music degree followed by a Master of Music for which he won a scholarship. Steven was the recipient of numerous academic awards during his tenure at the Conservatorium, including the Annual 2003 Griffith University Award.

Over the years Steven has conducted and composed for various professional and local ensembles and artists including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Steven has also composed and conducted several film scores over the last 10 years including Spudmonkey (2001) which was released theatrically in 2007. Steven has been musical director for numerous ensembles, projects and productions including: Access Arts 2000, Mini‐Opera at the Conservatorium, The Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Redcliffe Sings, The Jubilee Singers, Cantamus Choir, High School Musical, Gigi, HMS Pinafore, Me and My Girl, The Merry Widow, Paris and The Boy From Oz.

Ingrid Cameron, Choreographer

Ingrid Cameron is a local freelance dance teacher and choreographer who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) from Queensland University of Technology in 2006.  She has successfully completed all RAD exams to Advanced 1 and has trained in a range of dance styles including classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre and hip hop. She is currently in her final year of studies with the Royal Academy of Dance to become a fully registered RAD ballet teacher. 

Ingrid has been a part of Ballet Theatre of Queensland since 2002 dancing in Peter Pan, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Sleeping Princess and Don Quixote.  Ingrid also danced with DaDaDance, a local contemporary dance company. She has performed with Ignatians Musical Society in West Side Story in 2006, and was the dance captain in their 2007 production of CATS. In 2008 Ingrid was commissioned by the Rockhampton City Council to choreograph the complete musical production of CATS that was performed at the Pilbeam Theatre.
