Ignatians Musical Society’s productions are performed live at the Schonell Theatre, Union Road, University of Queensland, St Lucia (UBD Map reference: Map 179 3K).

The Schonell Theatre is located at the top of Union Road, which is situated within the University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus. The Schonell Theatre is a 420-seat air-conditioned theatre with a fully licensed bar and concession stand. Dining facilities are provided by the UQ Pizza Caffe, where you can enjoy authentic Italian-style pizzas starting from $7.50. The Pizza Caffe is located outside the Schonell Theatre foyer and is also fully licensed. Please note that food/drink and the use of mobile phones and audio/visual recording equipment is prohibited in the theatre.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SCHONELL THEATRE:

By car:

From the City, use the Riverside Expressway and head towards Toowong along Coronation Drive. Go straight ahead past Toowong Shopping Village and at the Caltex service station turn left into Sir Fred Schonell Drive – this will take you to the main entrance of the University of Queensland. Go straight ahead at the roundabout at the entrance to the campus. Turn left into Blair Drive, and then at the University Swimming Pool turn right into Union Road. The Schonell Theatre is located at the end of Union Road.

Parking is available at the UQ Centre Car Park facility on Union Road, adjacent from the Schonell Theatre. There is also on-street parking surrounding the theatre however only when available. Parking fees are $1.50 an hour, no charge after 9pm. The UQ parking facilities operate on a pay-and-display basis, so it is advised to have small change to utilise the parking permit dispenser. The parking permit machines do not give change.

Parking is free on the weekends.

By City Cat:

The UQ City Cat stop is now operating again! Visit http://translink.com.au/ for timetable information.

The City Cat is an easy and convenient way to get to the Schonell. You simply need to take the ferry to the University of Queensland (the final stop before the City Cat turns around to go back into the city). The ferry stop is located across the road from the University Swimming Pool and from there we are just a 3 – 5 minute walk up the hill, at the end of Union Road.

By bus:

There are two bus stations located at the University of Queensland – Chancellor’s Place Bus Station is located 500 metres walk from the Schonell Theatre and is serviced by the 412 bus from the City, the 402 from Toowong, the 428 from Indooroopilly, the 427 from Chapel Hill, and the 432 from Kenmore. Please note the 412 is the only bus still in service after 9pm. On weeknights there is a 428 bus that departs UQ at 10pm, however not on weekends.

UQ Lakes bus station is located 200 metres walk from the Schonell Theatre and is serviced by the 109 from the City, the 139 from Sunnybank, the 169 from Eight Mile Plains, and 209 from Carindale. Please note, none of these services operate past 9.15pm
