From the Company and Director that brought you this year’s critically acclaimed, smash-hit musical RENT, comes Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning, chilling tale:

SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET.

After the incredible reaction from critics and audiences alike to this year’s RENT, Director John Peek and Ignatians Musical Society have embarked on another exciting musical theatre journey, and will be holding open auditions for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Auditions will be held:
15 – 24 November 2011

Australian Dance Performance Institute31-33 Collingwood Street, Albion

Rehearsals begin December 2011.

Performances are 22 March – 13 April 2012 at the Schonell Theatre.

This is your chance to be a part of an amazing and memorable journey through theatre, music and friendship. Ignatians not only gives you the opportunity to work with professional director, John Peek, but also with the top people in musical direction, lighting, set design, stage and production management. Being part of Ignatians is an awesome, theatrical experience.

From the Director and Company that brought you this year’s critically acclaimed, smash hit musical Rent, comes SWEENEY TODD: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim.

Directed by John Peek who won universal critical acclaim for Ignatians’ production of RENT this year at the Schonell Theatre, SWEENEY TODD: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will be the exciting first production for Ignatians’ 2012 season which promises to be the biggest and best yet for the company.

Performing in March 2012 at the Schonell Theatre, SWEENEY TODD will be an extraordinary continuation of growth and artistic discovery that Ignatians has embarked upon, a sumptuous theatrical journey that we invite you to join!

Ignatians Musical Society’s Ignite Choir will be performing an afternoon of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites. The concert will feature popular chorus, solo and small ensemble numbers from much‐loved shows such as The Mikado, HMS Pinafore and Pirates of Penzance, among many others.

About our Conductor,

Harmony has been a part of Ignatians since 1998 and has worked across many areas of production. She not only founded Ignite in 2006, she has also been the Musical Director on our productions of Footloose, Les Miserables (2005 and 2009), West Side Story, and CATS.

Ignite is unauditioned, and everyone is welcome to join. So if you love to sing and have fun, then we want you!

IGNITE! Presents a history of musical theatre

Come and join us Sunday 26th June at 1:30pm, for a wonderful concert that will take you through the ages of musical theatre history, presented by the IGNITE! choir. The concert will feature all your favourites such as Summertime, Oklahoma, Phantom of the Opera and many more.

The concert will be held at St Ignatius Church, 30 Kensington Tce, Toowong.

Entry is by donation and afternoon tea will be provided.
